Purification of the mind
We are all reborn in this world from the spirit world, which is called
the real world, but as we grow up in the body, we forget many things. As
we grow up in the body, we forget many things. We lose the memories we
originally had in the real world and accumulate what we have experienced
in this world in our own area of memory. Along the way, various dust and
dirt will accumulate in your heart. It creates a clouding of the mind."
(New Introduction to the Science of Happiness, chapter 3)
New Introduction to the Science of Happiness
The cloudiness of the mind gradually creates a cloudiness in the thought-belt, the part of the mind that separates the surface consciousness from the subconscious. Originally, this part of the mind was transparent and both the subconscious and surface consciousness could easily come and go, but due to the clouding of the thought-belt, the light of the real world gradually becomes impenetrable. And man lives only with his surface consciousness, which is also gradually covered by a black cloud and becomes more and more worldly." (New Introduction to the Science of Happiness, chapter 3)
Reflection is not about oppressing oneself, but on the contrary, it is about removing the cloudiness from one's mind and restoring one's original beautiful self.
To purify the mind, it is necessary to know the original self (the self of the real world). In order to regain the happy self in the real world, rather than the worldly and material self, it is necessary to learn the divine principle(the laws of the real world) and reflect on it.
Jesus said, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for you shall see God." (Matthew 5:8). If we purify our hearts, we will be able to gain the light of the real world and be with God.
'Even what is called reflective meditation is, after all, what Jesus said,
'Be pure in heart'." (The Origin of Happiness, chapter 4)
The Origin of Happiness
To become what Jesus calls "pure in heart", let us learn together from Master Okawa's books how to do self-reflect on the “Noble Eightfold Path” taught by the Buddha, adapted for the modern age.
